In this first week we were supposed to read until page 71 of "MAUS". In this three chapters, Artie asks his dad to tell him about his overall life and during the WWII. The book reminds about my never known grandfather. He was from Ukraine, but at that time, Ukraine was controlled by the Natzi. My grandfather was born at a German colony. When he turned in the age of 13, he was forced to be part of Hitler's youth army. He almost went to war, but he got a flue and stood home. In a few weeks, he ran away with his mom to Brazil by boat. In the book, Artie's father, Vladek fought for Poland against Germany in Poland's frontier. He was caught by Natzis, and sent to a jew prison. The book also reminds me of a movie called Inglorious Basterds. It reminds of MAUS because the Basterds fought against Natzis during the whole movie, and the last scene of the theater exploding, was awesome.
This is connected to some of the things that we are studying at Humnities. We will be studying about politics and world wide events. And one these events is the Holocaust and the Thrid Reich. Also, wars are happening in Israel against Gaza. This connects to the WWII because the richest and most prepared country is attacking the least prepared country, but eventualy, Israel will fall.
