I started doing some research about Marjane Satrapi and I found out some things that helped me understand a little bit more of the story, details that weren't put in the novel and more information about her. Marjane was born in November 22nd, 1969, on Rasht. She was raised in Tehran with her family. She is related to the Qajar Dynasty from her grandmother from her mother's side of the family. She saw a lot of friends from her family being tortured or killed. She also had her uncle, which was a hero through her eyes, being killed. After that she turned into a rebel teenager and due to that her family set up a life for her in Vienna, Austria. During that time she lived at her friend's house, however, she spent two months living on the streets. While she was in Vienna, Satrapi went to many illegal parties, where she married her first husband, Reza. In 2000 Marjane made her books Persepolis and Persepolis 2, while around 2002 she made two books called Embroideries and Chicken with Plums. The books Persepolis (1 & 2) were turned into one movie with a comic book art shown in the books. She also gained prizes like the César Awards 2008.Sunday, March 8, 2015
