Historical Event-Jorge Lopez

How did historical events influence the ideas in the novel?  What cultural issues may have influenced, challenged, or inspired the author?

Poland in 1939 was a really bad place to live in. Specially the people who lived right next the border of Germany. Hitler sent all of the Nazis to Poland, which included bombing, killing, and torturing. So, my book is about a historical event that happened, which was the Holocaust. In the holocaust, Nazis treated the jews on the concentration camps really bad, and in a very deadly way. Hitler, did a thing, that marked the whole world, which some say it was good, and some say it was bad. That, has influenced many people to write about it, specially those who were in it, and survived it. Well, Art Spiegelman, a jew who grew up under constant reminder of his parent’s experiences of War World II in Poland. Spiegelman then wants to learn from these experiences, by interviewing and drawing his father, Vladek Spiegelman's timeline. He then wrote a book which is sort of like a movie, and changes the nazis to cats, and the innocent people to mouses. Which is very smart of him, because mouses are afraid of cats, and the innocent people are afraid of the nazis. All in all, the Holocaust was not a very good thing for the jewish people. It was a very torturous thing to do from Hitler. Many people's relatives have died because of that, and some have survived. This has marked their whole family, and in this case it has marked Spiegelmann's.
