The book states Vladek saying that Marla was only with him because of the money and on a specific scene of the book it states that Vladek thought she only wanted to stay with him because of the money. Now, going back to your question, they fight a lot because they don't really like each other and probably Vladek is with her because she reminds him of Anja, and she is with Vladek, because Vladek has a lot of money. On the second question, I think that Anja committed suicide because of her depression, because on the book she is depressed several times, and I think that in the end she just could not keep it in anymore so she committed suicide, because she has been through a lot and was really depressed about the war. For the last question I think that the smugglers plan was to hand the jews in and therefore maybe receive a reward for it.
